Producer note: Just as he did last year and the year before that, the always direct and sometimes ironic Laurent Ponsot said that there "really isn't much to say about 2014 that is interesting and probably nothing that you don't already know." He did somewhat grudgingly add that "we began picking on the 18th of September in the Côte de Beaune and on the 23rd in the Côte de Nuits and brought in acceptable yields where the fruit was clean and ripe. I think that they style of the vintage should allow for the wines to be enjoyed young but age well if anyone has the patience to hold them." He further noted that there is no Gevrey in in 2014 due to the replanting of the parcel. Tasting note: A slightly riper and more complex nose presents notes of red currant, floral, spice and notably earthy aromas. The energetic, punchy and well-delineated flavors culminate in a lightly mineral-inflected, delicious and well-balanced finale. This moderately firm effort should be drinkable after only 6 to 8 years if desired.
