Domaine Aurélien Verdet
Nuits-Saint-Georges "Aux Boudots"
1er Cru Red 750 ml
Tasted:Oct 10, 2020
Producer note:Aurélien Verdet took over 4 ha of family vineyards in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits after a short but successful career as a motorcycle racer that he gave up after a serious crash. As he builds his operation, he also works at Domaine David Duband. In order to offer a wider range of wines than just his Hautes Côtes, he also set up a négoce activity for the other wines. Tasting note:A ripe and attractively spicy nose features notes of both red and dark fruit, and in particular black cherry and raspberry, along with hints of violet and plum. As one would reasonably expect, there is better volume to the medium-bodied flavors that possess a suave and seductive mid-palate that contrasts somewhat with the muscular and punchy if slightly warm and tangy finale. I like the budding complexity and sneaky good length though the balance isn't quite what it should be. Still, this shows enough potential that it will likely age out well.
