Producer note: Owner Kevin Harvey and winemaker Jeff Brinkman have once again created some genuinely remarkable wines and in particular the Swan Terrance is nothing short of brilliant! Readers should be aware that the Rhys wines are clearly fashioned in a built-to-age style and thus are most assuredly not intended to show their best young. Thus I would suggest that if you're going to buy them do so with the intent to allow for at least a few years of bottle age. See as well the related wines from Alesia herein. Tasting note: A mild whiff of menthol can be found on the equally floral-suffused nose of poached plum and spice-scented nose that is trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is good vibrancy to the delicious and powerful full-bodied flavors that retain a good sense of detail on the very firmly structured bitter cherry pit-inflected finish. This is a powerful, bold and robust effort that makes it unambiguously clear that it is intended for extended cellaring.
