Producer note: Owner Kevin Harvey and winemaker Jeff Brinkman have once again created some genuinely remarkable wines and in particular the Swan Terrance is nothing short of brilliant! Readers should be aware that the Rhys wines are clearly fashioned in a built-to-age style and thus are most assuredly not intended to show their best young. Thus I would suggest that if you're going to buy them do so with the intent to allow for at least a few years of bottle age. See as well the related wines from Alesia herein. Tasting note: Once again there is a plethora of floral nuances suffusing the subtle spiced aromas of red and dark raspberry, briar and plum. The plush, round and again quite generously proportioned middle weight flavors possess a suave mouthfeel that also contrasts with the sappy, dusty and firm finale that displays sneaky good length. This needs to develop better depth but more should be in the offing if it's allowed at least a few years of cellar time.
