Lamborn 2200’ Cabernet Blend 2018
100% estate and organically grown Howell Mountain, Napa Valley Cabernet and Zinfandel blend
February saw abundant rains, followed by lots of filtered light in spring and early summer. Both bud break and flowering occurred a bit late, but under ideal weather conditions, creating plentiful and even fruit set. Summer brought generous sun during the day and cooler marine influences, virtually uninterrupted by major heat spikes. The relatively mild summer, followed by extended fall sunshine and moderate heat, created near-ideal conditions for us to allow our fruit to accumulate flavor complexity with gradual increases in sugar levels. It was a seamless season of heavenly hangtime and phenomenal phenolic development.
Winemaker Heidi Barrett’s tasting notes:
"This dark, inky Cabernet blend offers alluring fragrances of blueberry, raspberry, and mocha chocolate. With a swirl in the glass the aromas erupt, a fitting tribute to their volcanic soil origins. Mid-palate fine tannins give way to rich and concentrated brambleberry, black currant, and blueberry, rounded out with the lushness of raspberry from the Lamborn's prototypical mountain Zinfandel. This 2200' blend showcases both power and finesse in a sumptuously captivating wine, dense with succulent fruits that will have your lips smacking for more. Cabernet/blend lovers rejoice!"
