The 2016 L'Estel is a blend of 50% Garnacha, with 25% each Syrah and old Cariñena from different vineyards from a ripe vintage. The different varieties fermented separately in concrete and matured (also separately) in Austrian and French oak vats for 14 months, then they were blended and bottled after two months. It feels quite oaky and a little heady, polished and soft, with a commercial profile. It's darker than others in the portfolio and has riper fruit and a mealy, biscuity character. 24,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2018.
Herència Altés is a fairly recent project created in Gandesa (Terra Alta) in 2010. They are moving fast and own 55 hectares of vineyards and rent a further 20. They have a brand new cellar and are getting certified for organic agriculture in 2018. They produce 400,000 bottles per year.
